We are all on pilgrimage, you know.
Even if we have lived in the same home and town for years or our entire life, we are on pilgrimage. Where has your journey taken you? Where are you currently headed?
The spiritual journey of each soul is a pilgrimage…from our earthly home to our heavenly one…and each of ours looks as different as we do.
In what season do you currently find yourself, pilgrim? Autumn? Winter? Spring? Summer?
Waiting. Expectancy. Hope. Pregnant.
If you were the young, expectant mother Mary, waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promise to you, what would be the landscape of your soul?
No, seriously. What would be happening within you as God grew within you?
Name it. Because chances are God is wanting to birth something in you. I read a quote at the convent where I love to stay for silence and solitude–
“God is always needing to be born.” -Meister Eckhart
Read that until it sinks deep.
HOW DOES GOD NEED TO BE BORN IN YOU THIS CHRISTMAS?
Let’s journey to the manger together–pilgrims to Bethlehem, just as Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men were. It tends to be a thread through the lives of God’s people.
Welcome, fellow pilgrim. Glad to have you along for the journey.
“And how blessed all those in whom you live, whose lives become roads you travel; They wind through lonesome valleys, come upon brooks, discover cool springs and pools brimming with rain! God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and at the last turn—Zion! God in full view!” Ps. 84:5-7 MSG
